FRUIT BODY: Up to 6cm in height this common species is similar to the more stockier Dead Man's Fingers but is more slender and more flexible. The outer fertile surface is warted black with the inner flesh a strikingly contrasting white which can show through on aged specimens that have dried and cracked.  GILLS/PORES: N/A. FLESH: White and rubbery, no taste. SPORES: The black spores are fusiform shaped, smooth and sometimes contain oil drops. HABITAT: In clusters on dead and decaying deciduous wood especially Sycamore. SEASON: Common.  Throughout the year. EDIBILITY: Inedible.
